One who have known Brahmam will not be separate from it

A ‘Jeeva’  will be getting into many hurdles during its life time and may get stuck up there (due to ignorance) .Satsang will slowly help remove this ignorance from us.So Satsang is very much essential during the life of a’ Jeeva’.The outside satsang will slowly turn inside satsang ie;meditative in nature. The Sangham of Jnanis ;Brahmaswarupis. The One who have known Brahmam will not be separate from it.

||Brahmavid Brahmaiva Bhavathi || says lord in Bhagavat geeta. So seeing the Jnanis is similar to seeing the Saguna Rupa Darshan of Bhagavan. But the peace that one attain from Satsang is not eternal. We get a flick of the experience or state they are in.This will help the ‘jeeva’ to rise to that state.

Self vs Ego

The mind turned inwards is the Self; turned outwards, it becomes the ego and all the world. Cotton made into various clothes we call by various names. Gold made into various ornaments, we call by various names. But all the clothes are cotton and all the ornaments gold. The one is real, the many are mere names and forms

Story:Alexander the Great and the Yogi

When Alexander, the Great came to India, he found that the Indians were a race of brave, fearless people. When he was about to return to his country, he remembered that his people had asked him to bring to them an Indian yogi.
They had heard a lot about yogis and were very desirous of seeing one, meeting him, hearing him speak and receiving his blessings.
In quest of a yogi he went to a forest. Sure enough, he found one sitting underneath a tree, in deep meditation. He waited patiently until the yogi opened his eyes. They shone with a strange, mystic light.
Reverently, Alexander requested the yogi to accompany him to Greece, saying. "I will give you everything you need or ask for. But, pray, do come with me. My people would love to meet you!"
The yogi quietly answered, "I need nothing, I am happy where I am!"
This was the first time that anyone had turned down Alexander's request. He could not control himself. He flew into a rage.
And unsheathing his sword, he thundered, "Do you know who is speaking to you? I am the great king Alexander. If you will not listen to me. I shall kill you- cut you into pieces!"
Unperturbed, the yogi answered. "You cannot kill me! You can only kill my body. And the body is but a garment I have worn. I am not the body. I am that which dwells within the body! I am not the deh. I am the dehin - the in dwelling one!"
The yogi continued, "You say you are a king. May I tell you, who you are? You are a slave of my slave!"
Stunned. Alexander asked. "How am I a slave of your slave?"
In a voice tender with compassion, the yogi explained. "I have mastered anger. Anger is my slave. See, how easily you gave way to anger. You are a slave of anger, and, therefore, a slave of my slave!

Ramana Maharshi on Liberation

Mukti or liberation is our nature.  Our wanting mukti is a very funny thing. It is like a man who is in the shade, voluntarily leaving the shade, going into the sun, feeling the severity of the heat there, making great efforts to get back to the shade and then rejoicing, "How sweet is the shade! I have reached the shade at last!" We are all doing exactly the same. We are not different from the reality. We imagine we are different, that is we create the the feeling of difference and then undergo great sadhana  to get rid of the feeling and realise the oneness. Why imagine or create that feeling and then destroy it?

Is it possible for those in a family to get release, and if so how?

Below is a small talk between Sri Ramana Maharshi and his devotee. It's very interesting.

Devotee: I am a man with a family. Is it possible for those in a family to get release, and if so how?
Maharshi: Now what is family? Whose family is it? If the answers to these questions are found the other questions solve themselves. Tell : Are you in the family, or is the family in you?
Visitor did not answer.
Then answer was continued: Who are you? You include three aspects of life, namely, the waking, the dream and the sleep states. You were not aware of the family and their ties in your sleep and so these questions did not arise then. But now you are aware of the family and their ties and therefore you seek release. But you are the same person throughout.
Devotee: Because I now feel that I am in the family it is right that I should seek release.
Maharshi: You are right. But consider and say: Are you in the family or is the family in you?
Another visitor interposed: What is family?
Maharshi: That´s it. It must be known.
Devotee: There is my wife and there are also my children. They are dependent on me. That is my family.
Maharshi: Do the members of the family bind your mind? Or do you bind yourself to them? Do they come and say to you "We form your family. Be with us"? Or do you consider them as your family and that you are bound to them?
Devotee: I consider them as my family and feel bound to them.
Maharshi: Quite so. Because you think that so-and-so is your wife and so-and-so are your children you also think that you are bound to them. These thoughts are yours. They owe their very existence to you. You can entertain these thoughts or relinquish them. The former is bondage and the latter is release..So long as you consider yourself as an individual, a Guru is necessary to show to you that you are not bound by limitations and that your nature is to be free from limitations.

Benefit of Satsang

Just as even a fresh plantain tree will become dry and catch fire when it comes in close proximity to a raging forest fire, so the minds of those who associate with Jnanis will, unknown to themselves, be made by that association to attain great love to attend to and abide in Self. When we gain association with a person who knows and abides as the reality, we will be able to know very clearly that real devotion to God, and steadfast discrimination between the eternal and the ephemeral, are steadily rising up and increasing in our hearts automatically, and without our own effort. - Sri Ramana Maharshi.

Question: Inspite of repeated attempts why the mind refuses to turn inward ?

Ans: It is done by practice and dispassion and that succeeds only gradually. The mind, having been so long a cow accustomed to graze stealthily on others' estates, is not easily confined to her stall. However much her keeper tempts her with luscious grass and fine fodder, she refuses the first time; then she takes a bit; but her innate tendency to stray away asserts itself; and she slips away; on being repeatedly tempted by the owner, she accustoms herself to the stall; finally even if let loose she would not stray away. Similarly with the mind. If once it finds its inner happiness it will not wander outward. -Sri Ramana Maharshi

Crores of people but few enter spiritual path

||Manushyanam sahasreshu kaschidyathi siddhaye
yathathamapi siddhanam kaschinmam vetthi ttatvaha||

There are crores of people but only a few enter the spiritual path. Out of these, fewer still pray for liberation of soul. From these handful of people, only one turns out to be a blessed soul. There are many flowers but only a few are entitled for God’s prayer. Out of those, only a few are plucked and offered to God and only one flower reaches his bossom. Even if one steps into spiritual path, it is difficult to pursue till the end. Self realization requires dedication, will power, sacrifice, control over the senses and eqanimity & Grace.

Story:Have Faith like a Child!

There was once a cobbler who lived an simple but honest life. He was a poor man and had to work hard to, but he was very much devoted to the worship of  Lord Vishnu. He lived beside a huge Banyan tree.
One day, as he worked in the shade of the Banyan tree, the SageNarada came to visit him. The cobbler was very happy to receive the God's messenger. After welcoming him with due respect he ventured to ask if he had recently seen Vishnu.
"Yes," replied  Narada, "I have just been with Vishnu and h has sent me to see you."
He was amazed to hear that God Vishnu had sent Narada to him.
No one important ever came to see him ;he was just a shoemaker. What possible interest could Lord have in him? Some time later he asked Narada. "Why did God Vishnu want you to see me?"
Saint Narada said: "God thought you might have some questions."
"Questions!!"The cobbler was amazed. Narada himself had come to answer his questions! In confusion he could not think of anything.
Suddenly cobbler thought of one simple question. "What was God Vishnu doing when you saw Him?"
"He was threading an elephant through the eye of a needle," Narada replied .
"Threading an elephant through the eye of a needle?" the cobbler was surprised. He hadn't expected that Vishnu would be doing this. "Well, one thing's for sure," he said, "Only Lord Vishnu could do that!"
"Surely you don't believe me," smiled Narada, amused at the cobbler's simplicity. He had given this answer merely to test the cobbler and didn't expect him to believe it. "I don't think even Vishnu could really do that  it's impossible."
"Why can't he do that?" responded the cobbler, a little taken aback at Narada's lack of faith.
"Nothing's impossible for him. This world is full of His miracles. He makes the Sun rise each day. He makes the Wind blow. He provides for the food for all the creatures in this world.
The cobbler said to Saint Narada, "Look at this," he went on as he bent to the ground and picked up a seed from beneath the Banyan tree, "Inside this seed is a Banyan tree as big as the one above us. It's just waiting to come out. If Vishnu can squeeze a whole Banyan tree into such a tiny seed, surely he can thread an elephant through the eye of a needle!Hearing the wisdom of the cobbler's words, Narada had to admit that what he said was true.

Such is the faith of true bhakts like the cobbler because they cannot think of anything otherthan Him. They see God equally present in everyone, everything.

Story:Sage Narada’s Doubt

Sage Narada visits the abode of Sri Vishnu. Vishnu Bhagavan worships Narada and asks why he visited. Narada replies: "Lord, While travelling on earth, I came across a Satsang where the main speaker was praising the benefits of Darshan of Sadhus, but I could not hear the actual benefit. So kindly tell me what is the benefit of darshan of Sadhus."
Vishnu told Sage Narada, that his question can be answered properly by a worm , which is residing in manure pit in some place.
Rishi Narada goes to the worm and asks the  same question. The worm, instead of replying to him, dies in his hands. The rishi is grieved and goes to Vishnu’s abode with the dead worm in his hand and narrates to Sri Vishnu. Lord tells Rishi, to go to the Manasarovar lake, where he can get the answer to his question from Swan. The rishi goes to the Manasarovar lake and seeing the bird at the other side sits down and waits for the Swan to come to this side of the lake. He closes his eyes and is immersed in meditation on God. Suddenly, he feels something heavy in his lap. Opening his eyes, he is agitated to see the swan, dead in his lap. He rushes to Vishnu with the bird. Vishnu tells him that now only a small, newly born child in Varanasi can clarify his doubt. Narada is horrified at the suggestion and says, "No! The last two times, I went near some living thing to ask, it died. I don't want to carry the guilt of being responsible for the death of another life, that too a human child!"
Lord Vishnu assured Narada that this time, he need not worry and he will not have to take any guilt. With a lot of trepidation, Sri Narada approaches the  three day old child. Seeing the Rishi, the child claps its hands in joy and addresses him thus: "Please, come ..Rishivar! I am the worm. By the grace of your darshan, I became the Swan and again I had the benefit of your darshan in that life, because of which I got this human birth. Now with your darshan..."  Narada did not wait there even a moment to hear the child further but vanished. Thus Narada got his answer about the benefits of Sadhu Darshan

Strength of Satsang!

When one accepts god;God accepts one.Satsang will slowly lead them.In fact Mahatmas are born with the very same purpose. In sadhana too even if a person does all type of Spiritual activites still he requires the support of that ultimate power. Mahatmas come in different forms to show the way.Leading the way for aspirers itself is the strength of Satsang

How to be free from Sorrow?

When a person leaves (ignores) the world and accepts the truth;ignores asat and accepts sat;ignores tamas at that moment all dharma related to Jada (inert or lifeless) will leave him. That itself is Satsang. If a person accepts the jada even if he is of very good quality and character (sadachari and person with anushtan)he will be in sorrow. That is only if a person accepts sat (ie;lead a life knowing that the ultimate aim of life is to realize God and that is the only real truth) he can attain true happiness.
